Port Cluster in Greater Bay Area Enhances Inland and International Connectivity

In the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, sea and rail transport have built a major logistics corridor linking Chinese enterprises to Belt and Road countries and regions. The Bay Area port clusters have expanded port services inland and along rivers through multimodal transport such as sea-rail and water-water connections.

The integration of ocean routes with rail lines means the seaport is now right at the doorstep of inland entrepreneurs. "The newly launched 'Chongqing-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Scheduled Train' in 2024 shortens transport times from Chongqing to Shenzhen Yantian Port and Hong Kong Kwai Tsing Port to two and three days respectively, providing inland foreign trade companies with a stable, efficient, green and low-carbon export channel," said Pang Ning, Deputy General Manager of the Business Department at Yantian International Container Terminal. Yantian Port has opened 32 sea-rail intermodal routes serving central and southwest economic regions.
