Yangtze River Delta Sea-Rail Intermodal Volume Exceeds One Million TEUs in 2025

As of May 9, sea-rail intermodal transport via the Yangtze River Delta railway network has exceeded 1 million TEUs, nine days earlier than last year.

CR-Shanghai has strengthened cooperation with Shanghai Port and Ningbo Zhoushan Port to streamline intermodal operations and optimize transport scheduling. They run trains in precise phases based on customer needs, ensuring seamless loading, unloading and vessel scheduling, significantly reducing train and port dwell times. As of May 9, Shanghai Port and Ningbo Zhoushan Port have collectively completed 1.004 million TEUs in sea-rail intermodal transport this year, up 8% year-on-year. Shanghai Port alone handled 351,000 TEUs, a 20% increase, setting a new record for the same period.

Currently, there are 95 sea-rail intermodal train routes from multiple Yangtze River Delta locations to Shanghai and Ningbo Zhoushan ports, supporting exports of white goods, photovoltaic modules, hardware and more. Since Q2 this year, the main ports of the Yangtze River Delta, including Shanghai Port and Ningbo Zhoushan Port have seen daily sea-rail container throughput exceeding 8,000 TEUs.
